About me
Jesse van den Berg (they/them) (1996, NL) is an artist who researches the topic of queerness with a focus on intimacy. Jesse’s work is an ongoing exploration of queerness around them and within themselves. They look for ways to express their vision and that of collaborators through lens-based media where vulnerability and celebration play important roles. It’s crucial for Jesse to stay aware of the power a camera can hold and how this affects the interaction between ‘the model’ and ‘the maker’. They Integrate intimacy and integrity in their work but also in the whole process of making, and explores how intimacy can be translated through material and installation work. With Jesse’s practice, they create an experience of love, admiration and vulnerability

Photography for Humanistisch Verbond, Cultuur Oost, Action Aid & Gemeente Utrecht. Curator of my own Queer Art Show ‘Dreaming of’ with 2 editions in Extrapool. Coach & Jury for Kunstbende Gelderland. Host of my own panel ‘Expressing Queerness in Visual Language’ during In Motion festival for We Are Playgrounds in Rotterdam. Lecturer & Workshop teacher for Master Institute of Visual Cultures, AKV St. Joost, Kunstbende Gelderland, Queer Gym Amsterdam and other (school) institutions. Graphic Design for several companies mostly focussed on creating Social Media Content. Founder & Organizer of ‘A Sexy Queer Party’ with four successful editions.
